I find that school zones are usually 25 mph in most areas and 30-40 mph on highways that normally have a higher speed limit.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the X in ped xing has another function, too. It is a space saver on the traffic signs.

Likewise, it is used to abbreviate Christmas as X-mas.

Everyone knows about X-rays.

I enjoyed your post Artur. Speed limits vary for school zones. ther are 15 miles per hour during school hours.

Once I got a speeding ticket for going 45 miles per hour, the posted speed limit for after school hours. I was surprised because I had been trying to be very careful to stay within the speed limit–I hadn`t seen the sign for the speed reduction as usually at school zones ther are flashing lights to get the motorist`s attention. It was my first time traveling that road to my new job. Needless to say, the speeding fine cost alomst my whole first week`s paycheck.

The common speed limit for residential areas is 25 mph. In my condos, it’s 18 mph which is also a funny speed limit :)
