Hi folks! De vez em quando aparece uma palavrinha ou outra em um texto que nos deixa “encucados”. Uma dessas palavras é though. Repare bem na escrita dela, pois é parecida mas tem o significado bem diferente da palavra “tough”, que quer dizer duro. Though quer dizer “apesar de”, e nesse clipe do grupo S Club 7 você pode ver em primeira mão em que situações a palavra though pode ser usada, assim como a pronúncia correta. Olá, além do though como apesar de, os americanos o usam no final das frases, parece ser uma gíria e isso sempre me incucou, pq msm qnd eu perguntava para eles o q eles queriam dizer com esse though, nem eles sabiam explicar o significado. Ainda estou curiosa sobre isso! Aguém sabe explicar?

quero acrescentar dizendo que though pode ser…
Granting, admitting, or supposing that, notwithstanding that, if.
However, nevertheless, notwithstanding. Used in familiar language, and in the middle or at the end of a sentence.
It is not slang. And it is similare to “anyway”.
Though pode ser entre outras coisas também: anyway, despite, in spite of…
traduzindo: de qualquer forma, apesar,ainda que,posto que, embora, não obstante, entretanto,ainda quando,apesar de…
Exemplos:
He saw the danger, he stayed. = Apesar de ver o perigo, ele ficou.
It is worth attempting though we fail. = Vale a pena tentar, ainda que falhemos.
It looks as though it would rain. = Parece que está querendo chover.
It was quite certain though = Aliás, estava bem certo.
I hoped you had told him though = Esperava, entretanto, que você lhe tivesse dito.
Though he doesn’t earn very much, he loves his job = Ainda que não ganhe muito, lhe encanta seu trabalho.
ou ainda…
He doesn’t earn very much, he loves his job though. = Ele não ganha muito, mas ama seu trabalho de qualquer maneira.
It’s expensive. It’s worth it though. = É caro. De qualquer jeito, vale o que custa.
She still likes him though. = Ela ainda gosta dele de todo jeito.
Let’s go to the shops! I don’t want to go though. = Vamos no shopping center! Eu não vou de qualquer jeito.
E ainda…
even though = mesmo que, ainda quando, ainda sim, apesar de que…
as though = como se, ainda que, como se fosse,
Though também aparece nas formas de ( tho e tho’ ) principalmente em filmes e seriados americanos e letras de musica de hip hop.
