Achei muito legal a sua história e o fato de você ter se radicalizado no Brasil, e gostaria de entrar em contato com você pra conversarmos a respeito do meu nível de inglês e da possibilidade (ou não) de eu trabalhar com inglês mesmo não tendo feito nenhum curso (sou autodidata, aprendi com amigos gringos e tal), e também pra ficarmos amigos, se você quiser, é claro.
Qualquer coisa, se possível, me dá um retorno, ok?! ;)

Estou super feliz que você aproveitou do meu artigo!

Hmmm, e esse gringo, ele falou “get it together” ou “put it together”? Porque tem sentidos diferentes.
Quando você usa “get together” tem o sentido que dei no artigo, “combinar alguma coisa, reunir-se”, mas “get IT (ou algo) together” significa organizar-se, pôr ordem na vida.

“Put (it) together” é colocar junto(s), montar. Então provalvamente foi isso que ele falou.

opa.. muito bom o post.
essa semana fiz uso dessas frases para iniciar uma conversa / “quebrar o gelo” com um australiano.

ele estava parado do meu lado, então eu ofereci uma bala… e daí comecei a fazer perguntas, e foram exatamente essas que vc postou hoje :D

- First time you come to Rio?
- Where are you from?
- Are you enjoying Rio ?
..etc

outra coisa… eu vi esta frase: “Let’s get together some time. / Vamos combinar alguma coisa”
e lembrei de uma coisa…tivemos recentemente na empresa uma mudança no layout, ou seja, todos mudaram de lugar… e nessa mudança, eu dei uma ajudinha pro gringo, e ele colocou os computadores todo EMBOLADO na mesa.. e falou pra mim: “could you help me to get it together?” …

GET TOGETHER então pode significar Desembolar, né :D ?!?!?

I’ll try to write more articles in both English and Portuguese.
(And take my own advice, e seguir o meu prórpio conselho…não ficar tão tímida com relação ao meu português!)

And, Raíssa, I love the expression, “It’s up to you”, too! It’s a very commonly used English idiom.

Congratulations on your post, Ashley, and thanks for it. In my opinion, this is one of the best ways to write a post directed to learners of English – both in English and in Portuguese – though I know we shouldn’t fall back upon translations too often. But in this case I think translation is a great support for learners. We read in English, and in case we’re in doubt we rely on the translation. This simple. Oh, yes, and the content was good, too.
