Curso de Inglês para Tímidos: Lição 20

All right, let’s get a little controversial here today.

I just saw on the news that a 17-year-old girl had been beaten up by her 21-year-old husband and was in a coma.

My question is, why does this still happen and what could be a feasible solution to this problem? Are women to blame? Are men to blame? Should there be stricter laws against it?

We want to hear your position on the violence against women topic.

Aguardo as respostas em inglês nos comentários. Good Luck!

In Brazil is not necessary more laws. In these days we have Maria da Penha’s law which is the Strongest weapon to inhibit violence against women. In other hand we see women which denounces their partners but in the next day the accusation is removed. So women need to get conscious they should to require that right. It’s a really controversial theme.

As far as i’m concerned, women who suffers with violence in their home might depend on their husbands to do everything.

In general, they stop studing when get married, having lots of babies without any sensible planning and get used to spend all their time doing housework what makes them not able to afford anything needed.

Therefore, i can understand why they simply don’t leave the agressors when the very first episode of disrespect happen.

Although there are laws against this kind of behavior, it’s not so common to see wives doing reports about being beaten untill it’s too late to police act.

It’s undeniable that children must be raised in well-structered enviroment, learning to deal with responsabilities and to see themselves above others skin, but in poor conditions – like these – it’s not the true reality.

I think the two are guilty for leaving one or marry a madman (which poi guilt in women) but I think the blame is also for men who still think they own the world.

I think the problem is because the people don’t look and leave our troubles to God. A dash of religion would not hurt anyone

In the first place a Government needs to be HONEST. There should be then hard penalties to criminals. Who is no good to humanity should be destroyed. It is not good to have thousands of penitentiaries to keep bad people. The money wasted with them should be applied in Health and Education.

I think both are wrong in this case. Yes, the laws must be stricter
There is In Brazil this Maria Penha’s law, but it’s just showed us when a woman is killed by her husband or boyfriend.
What the world needs is love, or better, GOD.
