Dizemos "fui em um bar copo sujo" ou aquele bar é copo sujo", por exemplo, quando estamos nos referindo a um bar no qual aspectos como limpeza, segurança, espaço físico e principalmente higiene são evidentemente negligenciados.

Daniel, foi falado sobre "copo sujo" nos comentários do post do Mark Nash sobre "greasy spoon", mas em seguida foi esclarecido que, apesar do nome, greasy spoon se refere à restaurante pequeno e barato, não necessariamente sujo.

"Dive" is a possibility. It is a bar of poor repute. Sometimes it refers to restaurants too.
