Hi, y'all! I have a great doubt - How can I say "carente" in English? There are two meanings in Portuguese: 1) a person who doesn't have enough money or a good financial status; 2) someone who doesn't have enough attention from other people like his/her parents or partner. The second one is what really confuses me. Is there a word for it in English?

Hello Anita,

The question you have is pretty comon,"carente" in English can be "needy"
Exemples:
a)She was shy and needy.(Ela era tímida e carente.)
b)She said she thought he was needy.(Ela disse que achava ele carente.)

Obs:"Needy" em inglês equivale exatamente as definições que você mencionou.
