Olá Pessoal,

1)They´ll swing it for you.(Eles vão dar um jeitinho de arrumar isto para você.)...meio ilicitamente.

2)Did he swing it for you?(Ele te arrumou isto?)...deu um jeitinho.

3)He´ll swing us some tickets.(Ele vai dar um jeito de arrumar uns ingressos para nós.)

Swing:to succeed in getting or achieving sth, sometimes in a slightly dishonest way.(Oxford)

Such a great expression!
Thanks a lot Donay!
Donay I live in England, and i've just asked a friend of mine about this "swing" expression, and he said he doesn't know about it.
Is this like an american expression?
I work in a restaurant and that expression would be really useful for me. Can you think of any other expression which is similiar?

Thank you.

Olá Tui,

Você pode utilizar o verbo get, veja alguns exemplos:

A)They´ll get it for you.(Eles vão te arrumar isto.)

B)Did he get it for you?(Ele te arrumou isto?)

C)He´ll get us some tickets.(Ele vai arrumar uns ingressos para nós.)

Obs:O get nesse caso não tem sentido pejorativo.

Boa sorte! ;)

Ola galera,

Concordo coma a ideia que "swing it" é bem "American English"
Problema é achar alguma coisa semelhante no "British English."

Tem outros conceitos além do famoso jeitinho brasileiro que são dificil traduzir.
e.g. padrinho e padrinhagem.

Tim :D
Fazer uma observação:

para dizer por exemplo "pode me arrumar uma grana?" pode dizer "can you get a hold of some money?"

Né? acho que sim! hehe :D ;) :P

Olá Diego,

Eu diria:

Can you get me some money?

Acredito ser possivel o uso de get a hold of.

Boa sorte!

*Adding:

"Dar um jeitinho", no sentido de tentar arranjar um modo mais fácil e rápido de fazer o que foi pedido/ensinado, ao invés do modo padrão ou correto. Como ler um resumo de livro ao invés do livro inteiro:

to short-cut

→Example:
The Vietnamese are more receptive to training than the
Chinese. They will actually follow procedures once taught,
while Chinese workers tend to think that they know better
and will short-cut things if they can.

FONTE
Hook me up?? This slang is used in America quite often.

Example: Can you hook me up with some tickets?? Pode me arrumar alguns ingressos?

Sure, dude...I'll hook you up. Claro vei...Eu te arrumo.
