Exemplos:
a)I don´t do things for the sake of doing.
b)I don´t study for the sake of studying.
c)I don´t work for the sake of working.

If you use a noun in the sentence, you have to add a pronoun at the end.
I don't do things for the sake of doing them.
I don't study English for the sake of studying it.
