Como dizer "festa junina" em inglês
Galera,
Já procurei em alguns sites mas até agora não encontrei uma tradução convincente de Festa Junina. Será que devemos usar June's Party? Ou June Festival? Será mesmo que devemos traduzir Festa Junina?
Sugestões são bem-vindas!

Years ago I was in a small Argentine restaurant having lunch. I asked in English if there was a sauce for the meat. The waiter told me he had something with parsley, oregano, garlic, olive oil, wine vinegar, salt, pepper... I interrupted and asked if he meant "chimichurri". Of course he was! He could have saved himself as well as me some time if he had merely said, "Yes, chimichurri." I bet he thinks an Argentine empanada is a "meat pie". Arrggghhh....
My personal opinion is that it is foolish to translate every word and term from one language to another. There are foods, cultural events, customs, etc. that are unique and best left in the mother language with an explanation (if needed) in the target language. This includes capoeira, square dancing, empadas, maple syrup, frevo, flatlander, gaucho, etc. Calling Festa Junina "June Festival" has no meaning to an outsider. Note how Donay's sources handled the problem. They used the term in Portuguese and then explained it. Adding "June Festival" is a waste of everyone's time UNLESS they have a June Festival at home that is closely linked to Festa Junina. And you know what? I bet they don't.
