A gente morava no sítio e raramente via novas pessoas, a não ser quando íamos para a cidade.
De vez em quando passava algum caminhante, chegava pedia por algo para ajudar a matar a fome e seguia em frente. Ás vezes, algum, além de pedir comida pedia para passar a noite e descansar, não importando se fosse num quarto mesmo sem cama ou num paiol, ou algum outro lugar em que pudesse haver abrigo contra o frio, vento ou chuva, etc. Talvez sentissem protegidos ao dormirem perto de uma família.
A pergunta é como escrever em inglês “pedir pouso” (ou “pedir pousada”.)

Perhaps they felt protected sleeping by a family.
The question is how to write in English "request inn" or "ask hostel.)
