Complementando:

Do Dicionário Informal:

Jerk, asshole, moron

Exemplos de uso:

That jerk can't do anything right. [Merriam-webster]
Aquele zé mané não consegue fazer nada certo.

Her boyfriend is a real asshole. [Merriam-webster]
O namorado dela é um verdadeiro zé mané.

They were acting like a bunch of morons. [Merriam-webster]

So, I'm wondering, what would be the not-so-pejorative Portuguese for your average dick and jane? (No offense to any real Dick or Jane out there.)

Prof. Donay,

Queremos conquistar novamente a Libertadores.

I hear "average Joe" a lot. I'm not sure the meanings are the same, but I believe they overlap somewhat.

"This is not something your average Joe would know about".

"He's your average Joe" (He's a pretty ordinary guy).

"... not a house the average Joe can afford".

P.S.: Don't ask me why people put a "your" before "average". They just do.

"Zé Mané" to my thinking could be translated into "moron/fool/silly" not necessarily always pejorative, but fat chances anyway...both expressions and in both languages.

stupid is also used in some contexts, say, "My friend´s teenager sometimes do stupid things, as teenagers do."

I found the site "Maths for Morons like us." what suggests the kind of joke we see in Brazil. Mainly in Rio, when people self-deprecates "eu sou um Zé Mané/só um Zé Mané como eu faria isso/Ha ha ha, confundiu o sal com açucar e botou no café? você é um Zé Mané mesmo!"
Whereas in Rio it´s taken lightly, in some other region (e.g. Northeast or North) it may make the difference between your friend deciding not being your friend anymore, take a knife and try his hand in the newfound career of butcher!

Other two words to that would be "naive" and "dumb" in some contexts, when talking about the jollies of youth.

Of course, if you are rich the word would be just "spoiled" as in a comment here.

PPAULO 6 49 1.3k
After a sentence, it might usually be "Oh burn!"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =oh%20burn

"You're such a dork." "Ohhhhh, burn!"
(looks like a good one for "você é um Zé mané mesmo!"

Good one, Jhonatan. I must say.
Ah, and the last expression is very informal too. Very good.

For a change: Wow! the site is going from strenght to strenght, we have just surpassed the number of inhabitants of Tucano city (BA)! if the number of members were the number of inhabitants of a Brazilian city!
See you around.
