Hi...it's been a long time since my last post here hehehe.

I've got to write a text and there are things I can't remember clearly.

If my memory is still sharp, it is wrong to start a sentence using infinitive - TO - am I right?

If I want to say tasks I did previously, in portuguese I'd say things like: Sugerir, Corrigir, Consertar, prestar suporte,etc.

I definitely don't want to use PAST, nothing such as I Suggested - I Provide - I did.

So, the best way to say: Sugerir melhorias e soluções.... the best way would be:

Suggesting improvements....,providing...etc

and not
TO suggest improvements....TO provide...etc

You've got it straight. Writers would rather use a gerund form than an infinitive form, especially as part of chapter titles.

Eu pensei na possibilidade de isso ser um currículo. Eu imagino que tudo possa ser usado no próprio passado mesmo, sem os respectivos artigos:

Main accomplishments:
- Suggested improvements...
- Corrected...
- Attended...

or...

My main activites were:
- To suggest improvements...
- To correct...
- To blah blah blah...

Concordo plenamente, Flávia. Dependendo da situação, o infinitivo pode ser o jeito mais adequado.

Também não existe regra que diz que não podemos começar sentença com o infinitivo. Por ex

To observe the sky at night, a simple pair of binoculars is enough.
To wait is the best option in this case.

I don't like the past way, I'm not sure in english but in portuguese I've never seen anyone who writes like this:

"Eu sugeri e acompanhei melhorias no setor ...."

"Eu atendi clientes....."

"Eu fiz isso e aquilo"

The most common way is:

"Atividades:
Sugerir e acompanhar....atender clientes...fazer isso e aquilo".


Thinking exactly in this context, it fits better to use infinitive or gerund?

Marcio_Farias gave good examples, and I think gerund is better to the context but I want some more opinions

Então eu posso começar uma frase com "to", mas seria melhor com o verbo no gerúndio? Tem alguma diferença no sentido? (Boa sorte com currículo, colega).

Nathalia,

Sim, você pode começar frases ou com "to" ou com "verbo + ING". Não há mudança no sentido/significado. A diferença é que a opção "verbo + ING" é mais comum.

Como Henry Cunha já disse, não existe regra (ou fórmula) que diga que possamos usar o gerúndio ou o infinitivo.

Escreva-nos a frase que você acha que vai bem (ou melhor) no infinitivo ou no gerúndio e aqui a gente vai dizer se fica bem ou não, ok?

Ah, eu não tenho um exemplo. Mas sempre vejo com "ing" e então pensava que com "to" estava errado. Agora eu sei que não (Obrigada).
