Wazzup, guys!

Well.. My name is Renato and I'll go to London next year.. January or February, I don't know the right day yet.. Monday I guess that I'll know every detail with sure.. Well, I'll stay in London for 1 month to intensive class, yeah.. It's sad, I know.. But, was that my money allowed! Hahahahaha, and come on.. London is my dream, and I'll be happy to be there, even just for a month.. I'm created this topic to know:

1) What I take there? I mean, clothes I'll buy there.. The clothes here in Brazil is not for the London's weather haha
2) Advices that who already been there..
3) I consider myself a guy with a advanced english, in writing at least.. Will am I be fine there? hahahaha

1) The weather will be deadly cold, winter clothes are usually overpriced in Brazil,it might be a good idea to buy a winter coat in London instead. But you might want to take whatever you have already got that's warm and comfy.

2) Buy an oyster card to get around as it's cheaper.

Whenever you're out, never pay for water, always order tap water....it's free and same
as mineral.
When going shopping even it's for food ask whether you can get student discount , I've heard that at McDonalds if you buy a burger you get the second one for free if you've got a student card or a cheap deal sort of like that... but not sure.

3) Report back to us whether you got by with your English =), but you should be fine,specially if you've got good English skills. London's got tons of foreigners and it's more than common to bump into people with different accents and even bad shaky English skills....feel confident and go for it! Pretty much everyone there is used to it!

Olá Gabi, você mora onde em Londres? Estou planejando meu intercambio para abril do ano que vem, irei estudar 1 mês de inglês na escola EC English, em Covent Garden. Você conhece a escola? E o local, é de fácil acesso? Ainda estou na dúvida se fico em residencia estudantil na zona 2 ou em homestay zonas 1 ou 2..o custo de vida é muito alto para ficar em residencia? Obrigado! Att

Eu nao conheco essa escola, desculpa.
Eu estudei em escolas pequenas de bairro e nunca precisei ir para o centro.
Convent Garden eh muito bem localizado, no centro de Londres.
O acesso eh facil, com varias linhas de metro e onibus por ali.... Eh um local bem turistico tambem.
Quanto a residencia , eu nao sei informar por que nunca cheguei a fazer esse esquema de home stay ou residencia estudantil.
Atraves desse site voce talvez encontre algo - gumtree.co.uk .
Ja conheci pessoas que ficaram em homestay por 1 semana e depois acharam um quarto pra dividir pois assim eh mais barato. Aparentemente o preco de home stay e residencias estudantis sao altos mesmo. Alias, aluguel em Londres eh um absurdo de caro.

É realmente eu estou achando bem caro tanto homestay quanto residencia..a questão é que na homestay existe meia-pensão, enquanto na residencia estudantil não possui nenhuma refeição. Os valores de refeições em Londres são muito altos? Obrigado pelas dicas! Abs

Com certeza é mais barato se você comprar comida no mercado e fazer você mesmo.
A melhor forma de economizar em qualquer lugar para onde você vá é fazer as coisas por conta própria, na minha opinião.

Eu quero ir a Londres fazer um curso intensivo de inglês com duração de 1 mês também, mas eu não conheço absolutamente nada sobre Londres rs.
Eu estou procurando uma boa escola que fique em um bom local também.
A minha intensão era ir às aulas durante a manha e um pouco da tarde e aproveitar o resto do tempo para conhecer Londres.
Mas confesse que estou tendo dificuldades, pois sempre que começo a gostar de uma escola descubro pessoas falando mal dela.
Você poderia me indicar alguma boa escola com uma boa localização e que não seja absurdamente cara? rs
