Is the diversity characteristic of the Portuguese about the "verbal times" in past absent in English? Because I don't succeed separate "estive" of "estava" in english language for example, the same with other verbs.

Hello Juan,

Each language has its own characteristics and they do not always coincide with other languages.English is simpler in terms of verb tenses but much more complex in terms of verb formation(phrasal verbs).Generally speaking, I believe that english is much easier to learn than any other existing language.

Unfortunately, appear me this facility implies same concessions when it want modify a mean into some phrases in determined verbal times. But, "What do"?

Bem, neste caso específico é fácil de diferenciar.
Eu estava lá = I was there
Eu estive lá = I've been there

O que as vezes confunde mesmo é "Eu era" e "Eu fui", pois as vezes o sentido é "eu era" e não é usado o "used to be"

Não sei se ficou claro, mas...
