Muitas vezes expressões se formam sem que se encontre uma explicação lógica para isso.Thank God,dá a idéia de ainda bem e thanks to sb a idéia de devido a alguém,por causa de alguém.

I think if you parse this, it begins to make some sense. In the first expression, "thanks" is a noun, so that you could have said "I got the job, and for that I give thanks to you." In the second it´s a verb, which is going to be "thank" in any appropriate imperative form (I, you, we). In the third it´s a noun again: "[I give] thanks in advance." Does that make sense?

Vamos ver se eu entendi, o 1o thanks é um substantivo, e o 2o thank é um verbo.

Então, quando damos graças a Deus, sempre estamos na 1a pessoa do singular e por isso não acrescentamos o "s".
