Lost really increased my vocabulary, and I've learned a lot of expressions (specially from Sawyer)
Uhul! Nice topic!
Tv Series are one of my favorite things in the world. Let me see the ones I like the most.

Today, I have to say my favorite serie is House MD. Not because of the medical stuff. I don't like that, hehe. But because of House's sarcasm, and sense of humor. It's really, really, funny. And the serie has a perfect scenario.
But, I think the best serie I've ever watched was Friends. Those characters/actors captivate me, for good. Especially Chandler. Haha!

Well, I think this is it. Although there are still many series I like.

See you later, Flávia! ;)
Hello there!

I like to watch Supernatural, Smallville, House MD, The Vampire Diaries and The Walking Dead. I love movies and series.

I like a lot, I watch these series:

Grey's Anatomy (I love medicine! It's so interesting!)
Gossip Girl (A lot of gossips in NYC, great to learn slangs and idioms of the upper society)
The Big Bang Theory (Very funny lol)
Supernatural (drama and suspense)
Kyle XY (used esp. to learn English, I watch it in english with english sutbtitles, later, with no subtitle. Simple language, easy and a few slangs)

I watch all of them on Saturday. But Kyle XY I watch more times a week, to learn english frequently.
the big bang theory is hilarious. it's, by far, the best tv series I've ever watched.
and now, there's walking dead, it came out last tuesday, and it's really grabbed my attention, i believe this is a series worth watching.
I love watching Tv series! At the moment I watch:

-Family guy (I love it! the best comedy show I watch)
-The simpsons (It's nice but family guy is better)
-American dad( just cool)
-The vampire diaries (It's really good! I can't wait for the next episode)
-Supernatural (Awesome, though this season is not so cool)
-True blood (Looking forward to the next season, can't wait, One of my favorite shows)
-Boardwalk empire (This one is nice! Everyone should watch! There isnt any other serie like that)
-Gossip Girl (Nice)

All of them in english with subtitles in english.
I miss "Star Trek: Deep Space 9", "Battlestar Galactica" and "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" for the very same reason: the clever plot.

I like "House, M.D.", "CSI", "The boardwalk Empire", Ridley Scott's "The Good Wife"... and I really love "Glee"!

"Glee" is a very original idea that can be described in one word: happy. No matter how the scene looks (funny, sad or dramatic), it always feels happy. Great songs, great dance and great acting with a funny writing.
You got that right, Dude! Glee is freakin awesome!
I hope the 2nd season get better with the next episodes.

I think the second episode of this season, that one about Britney Spears, it's terrific, one of the best episodes ever. :D

I posted here a scene from the last episode of the first season when they sing "To Sir, With Love" to Will, with actors' lines, lyrics and vocab. :geek:
Since 2008 I've been watching a lot of TV shows. I prefer to sitcoms (comedies) such as Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, Everybody Hates Chris and The Simpsons. But i also like to watch some medical-drama like House; a very funny show called Chuck (action/comedy) and some brand new series: The Event (drama/action/Science fiction), The Walking Dead (drama/thriller/horror)and No Ordinary Family (Comedy-drama/Science fiction).

Hi Maria Iraci,

I suggest you write "very close to reality" instead of "very similar with truth".

Welcome to the forum!
24 no doubt about it. Jack Bauer was amazing (Tell me where the bomb is, NOW), every season was fantastic, the plot was gripping, I'd love the serie. I've got really upset because it's gone.
Lost was one of my favourites as well, I just didn't like the end, you know. I was waiting for something bigger than that end.
After talk to an English teacher I started to watch Dexter. If you want to learn lots of swearwords go there, you won't get disappointed for real.
I love Survivor. That's a reallity show where people fight for a million bucks while try to survivor or like they say outwit, outplay and outlast.
If you want to have some fun you should try Blue Mountain State.
An amazing cartoon that I like to watch is Star Wars the clone wars.
I guess that's all.

Doctor Who, by far.
An awesome sci-fi series, being in the Guinness book because it's the longest ever sci-fi series (take that, Star Trek!) and it has a lot of humor and time travel, besides being very... british.

That episode about Van Gogh has some of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen in a movie or series. It's amazing!
I think Gossip girl is The best tv serie ever. I love it and I don't miss any of the episodes...
it's so perfect.. all that glamour and confusions they got into makes you never want to stop watch it... it's more like a drama in the O.C. style.

I also like, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Friends and the Middle

Actually, I'm addicted to series :D
My favorite not my favoriteS. That's hard. I'd say I love "The Mentalist". Nice cast -- Simon Baker is perfect and Robin Tuney is getting there. Interesting plot in each episode. It's also clever, wit and elegant. Helps me a lot with my coloquial English, though it's got lots of cops slang and language (not very useful for day-to-day conversations, perhaps just to tell sb how was the last episode of the series was, anyway ...)

It's worth a visit, especially if you like Police Suspense ("CSI", "Criminal Minds" and the things) like me.

         Cheers
:D Two and a half men! The best serie to learning English.
Friends! Amazing.
CSI, but this one is a litlte bit hard to listennig. :o

Hello Flávia,

one of the series that call my attention is Smallville, I've been watching this series for a long time and it's helped to improve my English alot. Nowadays I"m following CSI, who's a very good series to improve and practice your English.

Ah, I was forgetting the main one, Everybody Hates Chris, that is the best one. There's no a day I watch this series to don't LOL. I think that's all.

Bye!!
heeey, nobody watches Prision Brake!?!?

That's the best TV serie I've ever seen, It's amazing!!!

I've never finished a TV serie before, then I watched the first episode of Prison Brake, and couldn't stop anymore!! hehehe

Now I wanna download some TV series with english subtitles!! BUT I don't know where I can download it, someone can tell me?

cya... ;]
sry: "Prison Break"*
Yeah Marcelo!
Prison Break is awesome. I watched the whole thing. But I must say the best season is the 1st one. The 4th season was kind of boring, but the big ending is really moving.
:D
I've watched prison break too, It's amazing see every single plan working fine for the scofield's crowd. But I think They should get it done on the 2 season, it was a little "Jumping the shark", what is happening with supernatural too, why they need to make a lot of episodes with no sense!? craziest! but I've watched a lot of series to improve my english, I think it is the better way to practice! I will list some series I watched or I am watching:

prison break
chuck
big bang theory
bored to death
LOST
Bionic Woman
Robin Hood
It Crowd
Kyle XY
The OC
Supernatural
The listener
The Walking dead
The JourneyMan

Yes....I think that too.

On the last season they fled much of the reality, and the serie became a little boring, BUT the last 2 episodes (the final) was great.

This type of thing happens becouse of the BIG success they have, so they make the Serie be bigger than it should be.

hugs.

HI Gabi,

How about this:

I'm a big fan of "The Inbetweeners", a series from BBC 4; "How I Met Your Mother", which was always good for a laugh; "That 70's Show", although I don't think it is still on; and of course "Friends".

Thank you for the private message, your thoughts and wishes are greatly appreciated.
I have to mention one of the most amazing series I ever watched: "Spartacus: Blood and Sand".

Watching the first episode, one may have the impression that the show is some kind of spin-off of "300", or a gross exhibition of naked and dead bodies.

But it's not.

"Spartacus" has great actors, beautiful scenes, and a dynamic plot that keeps getting better and better through every episode. The season finale is astonishing, the best season finale I ever watched.

Spartacus it's not a TV show for kids or a sensitive person, but its violence and sex are used to tell a smart story that every adult will enjoy.

The actor that plays the lead character got cancer and so the second season, "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena", will be a prequel.

Here is the link for the trailer for the second season and here, for the first season (both with portuguese subtitles).
