Sei que estou ressucitando o tópico, mas alguém poderia me responder como essa expressão "tapa com luva de pelica" fica quando se trata de dar uma resposta a alguém mas que deixa a outra pessoa sem ação e totalmente sem graça. Como uma "tirada de tempo", só que educada..
Não consegui encaixar apenas o "handle with kid gloves" porque ele parece que é só tratar com educação, sem a tirada... Há algum outro tipo de expressão que represente isso? Obrigada!

Discordo de quem respondeu "to treat with kids gloves". Mesmo nao sendo ditado popular "politely insulting" traduz muito melhor a idéia contida na frase "dar tapa com luva de pelica". Acho que se concentraram na luva de pelica e se esqueceram do tapa! A frase expressa um corportamento passivo-aggressivo, " dar uma resposta à altura, mas sem descer do salto"
"to treat with kids gloves é lidar com algo com excessiva cautela. Pra mim significa o mesmo que " pisando em Ovos"
Uma opcao seria usar a expressao " pushing buttons" que quer dizer provocar alguem disfarçadamente, assim como quem nao quer nada. Um deboche.

Indeed! Many didn´t believe she got talent, but she had the last laugh!

Susan Boyle proved at last that looks don´t count, age is a number, and she never gave up and having self-confidence (and talent) is more important than what others think of you.
