Obrigada!

a foretaste of it -
"I recently completed a 21 feet long multi-use cabinet in a spacious loft in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The cabinet is installed against a wall that has variable depth, alternating between deeper and shallower spaces."

Certainly it´s short for TV stand shelf. You would be understood both ways.
Personally I favour "TV stand shelf", but obviously in more informal contexts and maybe techie savvy people you would be always understood.

Indeed words come and go, depending on the clique you are, the tribe you choose, the group you participate.
Just like we watch Malhação and Soap Operas in Brazil and many neologisms of youth make it to the dictionaries and mainstream media, the acid test of time you say.
In short, I don´t know if they used as a "trial ballon" to see if would catch on or if it is widely used in the US, anyway to me it´s kinda novelty.
But, to a language with hundreds of thousands words, and counting...it´s quite probable. Have an informal ring to my ears, hence it´s cool.

Agreed. I run out of votes, but it´s a good answer, Rodrigo.
