I've always used 'willy nilly' to mean 'in a haphazard way'.

"[Come] rain or shine" would be the everyday humdrum alternatives. "Hell or high water" is more extreme -- you know, the choice between damnation and a biblical flood -- more eschatological. Sounds right to you?

In some cases you could say it with a certain sense of "por bem ou por mal."
An example would be the following:

come hell or high water
if you say you will do something come hell or high water, you mean you are determined to do it even if it is difficult. " I'll get you to the airport by 12 o'clock, come hell or high water. "

Tudo bem, também poderia ser faça chuva ou faça sol, mas pense na imagem. Se você compra uma passagem aérea, mas você não é de acordar cedo. Além do mais, se você não acordar, vai perder aquele intercâmbio.
Então você resolve que "chova ou faça sol." nesse caso particular (e em uns poucos outros) também poderia dizer "ou por bem ou por mal amanhã eu viajo (por que tenho que ir - uma que vez que não quero perder o desconto ou pagar multa.

Não é o usual, mas que há casos, isso há.

Ah, eu ia esquecendo...cuidado com frases com "hell", é bom olhar em volta e ver com quem está falando.
Por exemplo, se for diante de um chefe que não gosta...ou se a pessoa é politicamente correta, ou religiosa. Ou se simplesmente não gosta de palavras "fortes".
Sim, parece que muiiiiiitos americanos gostam de falar tipo atrevido, ou coisa assim. Por causa disso, talvez , é que filmes brasileiros tinham uma tendência ao uso de palavrões e xingamentos em demasia (talvez até para agradar!).
Hoje vemos filmes com linguagem mais amena, e passam a mesma mensagem. Yes, we can!

He needs to learn he can't always get what he want/it´s not his choice he is going to grand´s (grandparent´s) staying (home) isn´t an option.


...staying home/getting his way (now) isn´t an option.

By hook or by crook - if you intend to do something by hook or by crook, you are determined not to let anything stop you doing it and are ready to use any methods; by whatever means possible, fair or unfair.
E.g.: I decided I was going to get that job by hook or by crook.
