Whether it is with or against his will, he's going to his grandparents' house. That's it!!
And also: like it or not
More apocalyptic: come hell or high water

Here's why "willy nilly" sounds somewhat odd to me:

I've always used 'willy nilly' to mean 'in a haphazard way'.

Come hell or high water, não é " faça chuva ou faça sol"?Henry Cunha escreveu:And also: like it or not

"[Come] rain or shine" would be the everyday humdrum alternatives. "Hell or high water" is more extreme -- you know, the choice between damnation and a biblical flood -- more eschatological. In some cases you could say it with a certain sense of "por bem ou por mal."
An example would be the following:
come hell or high water
if you say you will do something come hell or high water, you mean you are determined to do it even if it is difficult. " I'll get you to the airport by 12 o'clock, come hell or high water. "

Yes, we can!

By hook or by crook - if you intend to do something by hook or by crook, you are determined not to let anything stop you doing it and are ready to use any methods; by whatever means possible, fair or unfair.
E.g.: I decided I was going to get that job by hook or by crook.
