EX:

Slow

By the time I was a primary school/junior high student I was slow and awkward.

I was fired by my boss, for he tought me as a lazybone/because in his tought I failed to meet his expectations for work.

One needs to have patience towards slow thinking people.
One needs to have patience to suffer the less smart (people)/the less sharp ones/the not most sharp knives in the drawer(s)/the laggers etc.

And other ways...to come.
If you're labelled as a "slow-paced" person that does not necessarily imply that you are not clever. This merely conveys the idea of a person whose personality trait is marked by thoughtfulness, that is, they tend to thoroughly analyse situations instead of jumping to conclusions. However, if you are looking for a derogatory word, then I would suggest using "slow-witted".
