I think that when I want to advice someone of something bad will happen, I say in Portuguese "quem avisa amigo é". And this expression in English would be "dodge a bullet", that means to advice someone for avoiding a negative situation.
E.g.: I guess you dodge a bullet about this man. He treats people really badly.
