Como dizer “Santa Bárbara” em inglês

Zumstein 1 31 435

Mas, na versão em inglês temos: She is invoked against thunder and lightning and all accidents arising from explosions of gunpowder.

Obrigado, pessoal!

Enquanto a resposta não vem... um provérbio:

Só se lembra de Sta. Bárbara quando troveja.
Danger makes men devout.

I have NEVER heard of this custom. I lived in RGS where we had a lot of lightning, but I guess I was surrounded by infidels. LOL I live in Guatemala now, but I have lived in Costa Rica and Panama. I never heard Santa Barbara evoked these countries either (in Spanish) or in the States.

Hi Thomas,

We have a prayer:
"Saint Barbara, the blest, I pray, Keep the shafts from me away!

Maybe those infidels that surrounded you didn’t even know that Saint Peter is our rainmaker.

You remind me of a joke I heard many years ago.

An atheist shouted: "There is no God! There is no God! If God really exists, let him strike me down with a bolt of lightning!" It began to rain. As the atheist ran home, a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree. The atheist shouted, "God is a lousy shot! God is a lousy shot!"
