O verbo mais indicado aqui me parece ser "To bilk":
Bilk - Obtain or withhold money from (someone) by deceit or without justification; cheat or defraud
Calotear - não me lembro de ter visto antes nem em português nem em inglês.
Bye

In this site I found the act of not paying - let´s be polite "of failing to pay" - in a word: deadbeat.
Wether by design or not. I mean, be it on purpose or not.
And with sport teams it´s not different.

Many deadbeats take advantage of utility companies, knowing that utilities walk that fine line between commercial service and public commodity. The deadbeats who don't pay their utility bills just make it harder for everyone.
