Como dizer "Por que você é professor?" em inglês

Minha dúvida é se o verbo be fica antes ou depois do sujeito.

Agradeço.

The verb "to be" when in questions, exchanges places with the subject in English (I mean, in the perception of a Brazilian learner, or how they often describe this.)

So:
You are a teacher. (a bit similar to Portuguese...)
Are you a teacher? (see? With questions they have their "position exchanged")

Hope this have cleared up your doubt, Dany.

Thus, "Why are you a teacher?'' being a question, behaves the same way.
