Olá, gostaria de saber como se diz morrer o carro no sentido de o carro não pegar mais.

One way to say that "o carro morreu" is to stall (usually a "lurch and stall", but then it´s not in a definite way it´s only for a short while.

To die would suggest (to my thinking) a more lasting/permanent event, and usually a mechanical issue, i.e; not depending on one´s driving experience. A real trouble!
Not that to say that it "died" is wrong, what I meant is that it may "suggest" a little (unidentified) trouble.
