"I have no idea" - "Neither do I" or "So do I"

Se numa conversa alguém me dissesse "I have no idea" ou "I have no time" e eu quisesse responder dizendo que também não faço ideia ou não tenho tempo, o correto seria dizer "So do I" ou "Neither do I". Em uma estrutura negativa comum "I don't have time" eu responderia "Neither do I" correto? Mas no caso, acho que a frase é negativa, mas a estrutura é afirmativa(perdoem-me se estou falando besteira).

"Neither do I" (nem eu/eu também não) (frases negativas) "either do I" frases positivas.

"So do I" também usasse para frases positivas.
Você pode usar "Me neither" (frase negativa).

Correção: either no final de frases utiliza-se para concordar com algo de maneira negativa
Ex.: "He did not understand me either [Ele não me entendeu também.]" - exemplo retirado do link acima

I love this topic as an English teacher!

When you want to say "eu também", you use "so do I" (ele também - so does he / eles também - so do they, etc.) depending on your verb tense (present or past - do, does, did).

"I like girls." "So does she."
"We want french fries." "So do I!"
"They saw the movie last night." "So did she."

For OTHER verb tenses:

"He has been to Spain." "So has she."
"They will be a few minutes late." "So will we."

When you want to say something like "nem eu" or "eu também não" in the present or past simple, you can use all of these below in normal speech (maybe not on an exam):

"He doesn't like The Black Eyed Peas."
"I don't either." OR
"Neither do I." OR
"Either do I." OR
"Me neither." OR
"Me either."
CHOOSE ONE AND STICK WITH IT!

"He doesn't eat sushi."
"She doesn't either." OR
"Neither does she." OR
"Either does she." OR (not as common)
"Her either." (not as common)

"They never saw the movie."
"I didn't either." OR
"Neither did I." OR
"Either did I." OR
"Me neither." OR
"Me either."
CHOOSE ONE AND STICK WITH IT!

Some other verb tenses:

"He has not been to Spain."
"Neither has she." OR "Either has she."

"They will not be late."
"Neither will we." OR "Either will we."

The reason I love this so much as an English teacher is to see the look on my students' faces when I show them all the options! I can be cruel sometimes! They ask me which option I say more, and I honestly cannot say. I say whichever comes to my head first.

Cheers!
Josh
