Alguém poderia me explicar o significado de "himself" aqui?

"Mark himself refers to his promises as if they have already happened."

Estava acostumado com uso do reflexivo nos seguintes contextos:

- He enjoyed himself. Ele se divertiu.
- She looked at herself in the mirror. - Ela se olhou no espelho.
- They laugh at themselves. - Eles riem de si mesmos.
- You were talking to yourself. - Você estava falando com você mesmo.

And also:
"O próprio Mark refere-se a suas promessas como se elas já tivessem acontecido."

You have seem it with a reflexive function, that is, the function that indicates that the person that realizes the action is also its recipient.
And now, you have come up with the case in which the reflexive pronoun is used with the function of adding emphasis: "Marcos, o próprio.../O próprio Marcos/Marcos, ele mesmo, etc..." It outlines the fact that Marcos, not other people/not others, refers to his own promises in that way.

"O próprio Mark refere-se a suas promessas como se elas já aconteceram." Você pode usar os reflexivos depois do nome, acredito que seja só uma questão de gosto.
Thank you !
