Como construir frases com o “Named after”

Olá, pessoal, tudo bem?
Estou com uma dúvida sobre como usar Named after.
Já fiz algumas pesquisas e cheguei a algumas conclusões,
Portanto, vou deixar aqui dois textos que escrevi, e gostaria de saber se fiz o uso correto.
Neste primeiro exemplo “Named” e “after” não estão juntos, este uso é correto?
There were lots of battles, and some of them, led by true warriors who helped to create the map of their nations, later being honored by the people who named the conquered regions after their heroes; which was the case of Zambia.
Este exemplo é mais comum, mas...
Despite all that, the brown-haired boy (who was named after a video game character) and his whole family are american; being his father native of the place where they live, while his mom is german.

Penso que ambos estão corretos, e eu consideraria substituir NAMED por NICKNAMED na segunda frase.
* 'NAME FOR' também possui sentido similar

Yes, it can be used like this. We can translate "named after" as (batizado) com o nome de, dado a alguém ou alguma coisa o nome de (outra pessoa/coisa etc).
So, it´s common "named after" as "batizado(a) com o nome de..."OR "leva o nome de...(seus pais por exemplo)".
As an aside note, in German the G in both cases, if it means the people or the language is capitalized just the same.

Eu gostaria de saber se escrevi certo a seguinte frase:
Rory was named after mother Lorelai and her nickname is Rory.
Estou com dúvida se coloquei a palavra Rory no lugar certo nesta frase.
Eu estou querendo dizer com esta frase que "Rory tem o mesmo nome da mãe Lorelai e o apelido dela é Rory."

Rory was named after his mother Lorelay.
(Rory´s mother is Lorelay)
Rory was named after my mother Lorelay.
(in this case Lorelay is my mother and Rory´s grandmother - I am a parent of Rory, of course.)

(here by coincidence, it can be said of the name of other person as well not only a person of the family - a relative).
