Using Donay's examples and giving an alternative:

a) Things hit the fan when he told her about it.(Tudo veio abaixo,a casa caiu quando ele contou a ela.)

b) It may hit the fan if you´re not careful.(A casa pode cair se você não tomar cuidado.)

Another possibility, a vulgar one, is "the sh*t (really) hit the fan, the sh*t is going to (really) hit the fan, etc."

This has been a bad post. The majority of the information is incorrect and refers to things unrelated to the contexts given.

Hi there!

Neste caso sugiro: cook somebody's goose

Vejam:

Cook smb’s goose (informal)

Ruin smb’s plans or chances for success

Ex: He thought that the police would never find him but when he saw the officer coming towards him he realized that his goose was finally cooked.

Take care,

Daniel

  • Things fell apart when he told her about it. (A casa caiu quando ele contou a ela.)
  • Things may fall apart if you're not careful.
  • Things are falling apart. (A casa caiu.
  • Things fell apart when she and Tres got into a huge argument after he didn’t come home until 5 a.m one night. (New York Post)
  • Declan, things are falling apart and I need help figuring out what to do. (Reverso Dictionary)
  • Things may fall apart, but you can't give up the fight.
Importante:

Best regards!

Nesse caso existem muitas opções,vou fazer uso do verbo frasal(fall apart),cair aos pedaços,desmoronar:
Exemplos:
a)Things fell apart when he told her about it.(Tudo veio abaixo,a casa caiu quando ele contou a ela.)
b)It may fall apart if you´re not careful.(A casa pode cair se você não tomar cuidado.)
