Lembrando que hold on significa aguarde um momento. No caso de "Aguarde em linha, por favor" dizemos: Could you please hold? ou até mesmo: Please, hold.

"Please hold the line" is much better; sometimes you'll hear it shortened to "Please hold". It's probably a good to idea to explain why the caller should hold the line: "Please hold the line a moment, I'm putting you through now." People generally hate being "put on hold", so it helps just to let them know that you're not just doing it because you don't like them.

If you are working for a business, the standard way to inform caller that they will be put on hold is, "Please hold" or "please remain on the line." (not "hold on" or "hang on", which are very familiar ways to express oneself, in my opinion, and should not be used in a business, but rather reserved for friends and family, at least in the US).
It is more usual to ask the customer, "could you please hold?" or"Would you mind holding?"
