Gil, people say that mostly in negative senses.

I have been through a lot these days, I got zica, dengue, chikungunya, and malaria, got in a car accident, had a nasty divorce, was traveling in a ferry that capsized. To top it all, I was having a beer a coupla hours ago when that shoot out started. Aside of that, life did run smooth.

That´s the beauty of English, and of languages for that matter, we learn new things all the time.
Glad that you like it. And it´s rewarding to teach something that can be useful to you in the future, in the sense of using the expression that is more natural to express what you want.
