Sabe quando ficamos desconfiados de algo e dizemos coisas do tipo "algo me cheira mal"? Pois então, como dizer isso em Inglês?

Meaning: to seem suspicious
Equivalente em Portugês: algo me cheira mal
Ex: What your wife was doing last night smells a bit fishy to me
E quanto a expressão "pegar alguém com a boca na botija"? Existe algo equivalente em Inglês? Quem é que nunca foi pego com a boca na botija? Não sabe o que significa "pegar alguém com a boca na botija?"

Meaning: to catch a person in the act of doing something wrong
Equivalente em Portugês: pegar alguém com a boca na botija

Meaning: Someone who is a snake in the grass betrays you even though you have trusted them

Getting caught red-handed can also be expressed as "getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar".

To 'smell a rat' is also used when referring to something that sounds suspicious, so I've heard.

Quanto a "amigo da onça" sugiro: "some friend you are/ he is..."

For "amigo da onça", I cannot think of a good translation in English. You can explain it as Giovana did or by saying "With a friend like you, I don't need any enemies."

We even had a song that we sang as kids growing up called "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar" look it up! It's a fun game you can use to teach this expression!

Fair wheater is a kind of "amigo da onça", one that by your side while you are problem-free, when everything is pleasant, they are with you in parties, etc. Some time ago they called it "amigo urso".
There is also the other "migo da onça' that is the "frenemy', one that is a double-dealer/two-timer/backstabber/double-crosser, the one betraying and trying outsmart and misleading you from the very begining. They are advancing their interests by 'manipulating', talking you into making decision against your best interests.
