Amanda,
Em inglês americano(o mais comum), usa-se "ride". Veja exemplos de dicionários online:
Ann rides the bus to work.
I walked back while the others rode in the car.
=> to ride the subway/an elevator, etc.
You'll have to rent a car or get a cab or ride a bus when you arrive and that is what takes you to your final destination. - Lasvegassun.com
Em muitos dos casos, nativos do inglês diriam "take a bus", "take a train", "take a taxi".
