Back in the day, they would literally post the grades for the entire class on a bulletin board, and you would search for your grade according to your social security number (CPF). The word "post" has remained in use in this context even though they no longer actually do this physical posting, but instead "post" your grade in some online system, where you can go check it.

It's also common to say variations like "Grades have been released" or "Grades have gone out", which are a bit closer to a literal translation.
