Thanx in advance!

I wish you would have stated in Portuguese what you were looking for.

"While I was warming up the milk...."?
"While the milk was on the stove..."?
"The milk was still warming up when.."?
"Before the milk came to a boil..."?

Does anyone use a "hob" anymore? I spent years in the country, ten years in a climate with lots of snow, and I did not hear the word.
Thomas,

The story I was telling was this: "Eu estava tomando banho quando o telefone tocou.

I told it in this way:

"I was taking shower when my cell phone rang. As soon as I turned the shower off, the phone stopped ringing. After I got dressed, I called that number back. While I was waiting for someone to answer, I ------------------------. The milk was starting to warm up when my sister answered..."

Thanx!

've thought of another one!
Simple and much more common = put it on the heat

to put something on the high/medium/low heat -- colocar algo no fogo
Very much used!
Good one, Gabi :)
