Me tirem uma dúvida.

Este laid back é realmente uma pessoa acomodada no sentido ruim da expressão?
Aquela pessoa que é contente com o que tem e não procura crescer na vida?

And no, "laid-back" to me, would be an easygoing, unhurried, low-pressure people.
Not necessarily means indolent people, one that don´t bring himself to seek a job, someone that willingly don´t work or study etc.

It was to talk about a nation as a whole, sort of.
To individuals, say, generalizing (something one could do that by talking from his bad experience with a part of a given group...), then it would be: "Brazilians are indolent/the Brazilian is indolent/these Brazilian guys are lazybones/indolent). And other ways.

It worth noticing that such statements can be deemed as impolite/rude, and it doesn´t expresses my opinion, it was fictitious and just to answer the question.
Daniel Reis came up with good points, there are people/countries/regions etc that are labeled as not industrious, when sometimes their lives suffer the consequences of other countries caprices, could be victims of complication from political interests, seasonal economic flutuations, social (ethnic and class) divisions etc.

"laid-back" é um termo informal que significa "relaxado", "despreocupado" e NÃO tem a conotação negativa da palavra "acomodado".

Other adjectives to express that could be: lethargic, sleepy, indolent, laggard, apathetic, etc. Or in a less terse way of saying: "...are deemed as people that drag their feet.", etc.
