Como dizer "chegar a fazer alguma coisa" em inglês

"Cheguei" não no sentido de chegar se referindo a algum lugar, mas sim a maneira de falar e fazer algo...

Ex: "Eu cheguei a fazer um teste para saber o nível de inglês em algumas escolas, o resultado foi nível 1 intermediário"

"Actually", "get to(ter a chance), "even", não usar nada.

The implication is that I did not expect to take a test. I was very lucky to have the chance to take one, the test was very difficult but I finished it, etc.
