Como dizer "Corre na veia (metáfora)" em inglês

Exemplo:

O Islã corre na veia do Oriente Médio.

Aqui estou querendo dizer que o Islamismo tem em todo o Oriente Médio e mesmo um não-árabe (um iraniano) é muçulmano. Mas há, sim, alguns (minoria) que é árabe e não-árabe que não segue essa religião e, sim, os moldes da cultura ocidental, mesmo estando no Oriente Médio.

Contudo, alguém saberia colocar em inglês a frase acima?

Islam is prevalent/predominant in the Middle East, it´s just common a Middle Easterner people to be (a) Muslim.

Not to make confusion with to be an Arab. And in terms of numbers, there are more Muslims in Asia and India plus Indonesia, Africa, and The Phillipines (combined) than in the Middle East itself.

Ah, in other contexts (and colloquially) we could mean "correr na veia" with "it´s in the blood". Airton Senna, at McLaren once said in an interview: "Racing, competing, is in my blood. It's part of me, it's part of my life." That would be a context in which the three statements combined would define something that "corre na veia" of someone.

We also say the literal translation of "runs in the[/their] veins" or even "courses through [the/their] veins".
