In English or Portuguese, this has to be one of the stupidest things I hear. The fact that someone is saying qualquer coisa/any means that:
(1) he is not acknowledging any wrong doing, and
(2) he cannot be truly apologizing if he is not accepting responsibility for his actions.

If I drove my car over your cat, burned down your house, wrecked your car, infected your wife with smallpox, and broke your leg, I'm truly sorry. Wish I had time to stay and see if I had a hand in any of these things, but I have movie tickets for 6:00 PM. See you again next year! Call me! (Assuming I did not break the telephone or run up a large bill while I was here.
