I have heard "Thieves of a feather hang together" I think, but I could not verify it google.
Nah, I'm getting rusty in my old age. The proverb that I was "remembering" was a German saying, „Mit gefangen, mit gehangen,“ which means if you hang out with criminals and get caught, you will be hung with them as punishment.
One person translated it as Translated from German: If you "gang" around with 'em, you'll hang with them.
It's great advice for a kid who gets busted egging a house with friends even though he didn't actually throw any eggs--he was just there hanging out with them. The moral of the story: Choose your friends wisely.

Like attracts like.
