Como dizer "dizem as más línguas" em inglês
Eu estava pesquisando sobre preposições, e acabei lendo The word on the street is that it's not going to happen no Oxford Advanced American Dictionary. Na hora me veio a expressão "dizem as más línguas" na cabeça, embora ela não se encaixe na frase citada. A tradução mais certa seria algo como "Estão dizendo que isso não vai acontecer".
Mas segundo o Urban Dictionary:
Word on the streets: a term used to tell someone of a rumor but without having to mention who the rumor was from. It gives the listener the false impression that a lot of people know of this rumor mainly because of the word "streets".
Se estiver correta essa definição, então é exatamente essa a expressão. Alguém conhece outra?

Acredito que todas estas expressões: Word on the street, Gossip has it, Rumor (or rumour) has it, podem significar tanto "Dizem por aí" ou "fala-se que" quanto "dizem as más línguas", dependendo da carga de ironia com que é pronunciada.
Não conheço nenhuma outra expressão para que seja especificada a diferença entre "dizem por aí" e "dizem as más línguas", a não ser a mencionada forma de dizer.

Valeu, pessoal!!! Achei interessante a expressão "gossip has it"; parece que "gossip" é uma espécie de entidade que possui as fofocas que andam dizendo por aí ehehe
