In Portuguese we also say "entrar pela janela." To talk about people that get a job by someone else´s patronage.
A backdoor job may come in different ways; as nepotism, privilege and inside connections. The beneficiary may or may not be called (many times behind his back) "the lucky inside guy/man."
If it will work out for him or not, only the time will say. But you the average guy might study and take that exam to get the job based on meritocracy, this way you can get anywhere (including land that job in this company). On the other hand, if you fail that one you always can take another test (making your odds increase if compared to just one job handed to you.)
