Certainly when someone is six feet underground he (or she) is pushing daisies (I am not referring to the action of bending down and extending one´s hands on to the flower.)
To the mathematicians '7 palmos' would be around 155 cm, and six feet 182 cm, anyway for the intended purpose the 'user' wouldn´t mind the difference!
This slangy expression, alluding to flowers growing over a grave, was first recorded about 1918, in one of Wilfred Owen's poems about World War I. There is a cemetery full of heroes pushing up daisies...
