Eu não estou a fim de algo em inglês:
I don't want something.
I don't feel like something.
I'm not in the mood for something.

- Hoje eu não estava a fim de treinar. [Today I didn't want to train. Today I didn't feel like training. Today I wasn't in the mood to train.]

Sandrom, either "in the mood for chatting" or "in the mood for to chat" can be used.
To my thinking, "for chatting" suggests it is in a general way, "to chat" has a ring that is specifically referring to something now, the present situation.
Anyway, that doesn´t mean that one can´t use interchangeably, since if you aren´t in the mood to chat right now, fat chances that you aren´t in general.
