1.to be up the creek / to be up sh*t creek [ expressão grosseira]

Ex: All those people who have money invested in it are going to be up the creek;

Ex: If the car breaks down we're really up the creek;

Ex: He'll be up the sh*t creek unless he finds the money to pay off his loan;

Ex: If you hadn't helped us, we would've been up the creek.

2. to be in trouble [algo como estar enrascado]

Ex: The company was in trouble for months, and then went bankrupt.

3. in hot water [como estar em mal lençois]

Ex: Those e-mails complaining about your boss can land you in hot water.

4. behind the eight ball

5. in the soup

Ex: I told her not to send that email, but she wouldn't listen to me, and now she's in the soup.

6. To be up the creek without a paddle [ tradução direta: encontrar-se no meio de um rio sem o remo, variação para a expressão de número 1]

Ex: The last bus had just left, and all the hotels were full. I was definitely up the creek without a paddle.

Outra variação : To be in the sh*t ( word reference ) que me pareceu soar nao muito natural , estou certo?

As sugestões com "up the creek" e "in trouble" me parecem as melhores.

Outra sugestão:

Be in dire straits: in a very serious, bad circumstance, in extreme danger or difficulty.

Exemplos:

''He's been out of work for eight months, and his family is in dire financial straits.''
''The economy is in dire straits.''
''We are nearly broke and need money for medicine. We are in dire straits.''
