Como dizer "eu já estaria trilhando pelo meu próprio caminho" em inglês
No sentido de fazer sucesso. Ter conseguido algo com o próprio esforço mas não consegui por causa de alguma fatalidade. Falta de sorte.

If I had moved to LA I would have broken into the business. (I am a writer or actor).
If it wasn't for that stint in jail, I would had made it. (same thing, I am an actor or writer).
If I had not turned down the audition for the American Idol I would have made it big, perhaps to the Tony Awards or Emmy. (I am a singer wannabe).
And other ways...
Cultural aside note:
I think that in English-speaking countries they don't ascribe bad outcomes like those to lack of luck, perhaps they would retrospectively say to themselves "though-luck" or "hard-luck" instead.
It's commonplace the quote ""Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." out there.
Sometimes cultures are different, and being immersed in the language changes our brains and ways, and this applies to learners from there as well (Exchange students, for instance). Anyway, it's not automatic, it's just that we have new parameters to choose from.
