Se você pretende dizer "ficar cara a cara com fulano..." vai pelo "to be face to face"
Você pode dizer "I'm face to face with...."
sem hífen, mas o hífen é contraditório em inglês. Não existe uma regra específica e você pode encontrar
palavras com ou sem em diferentes dicionários.

Variations of this include "to face" and "to get into somebody's face". Both mean "to confront", but the latter is more colloquial. "To face" also implies talking to someone face-to-face, to accept the truth, accept responsibility, etc.)
You broke the dish and now you must face the music. (...you must accept responsibility for the broken dish.)
He knows that I lied to him, and I cannot face him. (...I cannot talk to him face-to-face due to my shame/embarrassment)
Face it, he's no good. (Accept the truth; he is no good.)
Get out of my face! (Leave me alone! Stop yelling at me! Stop arguing with me!)
His dog ruined my garden, and I got in his face about it. (....I confronted him.)
I don't mean to get in your face, but... (I don't mean to be confrontive, but...)
