Mendonça,
O que eu estou querendo mesmo saber é que minha irma disse que se usa o ON INTERNET e nao TO THE INTERNET.
Queria saber qual a forma correnta.

Exemplos:
a)I learn english ON the internet.(Aprendo inglês na internet.)
b)I listen to music ON the internet.(Ouço música na internet.)

usamos ON para mostrar pessoas/ coisas em contato com UMA SUPERFÍCIE PLANA não importando sua posição. Imagine-se dentro de um quadrado. voce tem 4 superfícies planas: 2 laterais (paredes), um solo/chão e um teto/topo. então usamos ON para o que está em contato com estas superfícies. vejam;
a painting on the wall.
the clock on the wall
the carpet on the floor.
dancing on the ceiling (Lionel Richie).
on the blackboard.
There is a fly on the ceilling
I watched a terrific film on TV yesterday night.
We can sell apartments on the internet.
nós usamos: by car, by bus, by train, by plane para indicar locomoção por transportes e ON FOOT para indicar que usamos nossos pés em contato com o solo para nos movermos.
outros:
The book is on the table.
my cat is on the carpet.
ON também significa SOBRE um assunto
She bought a book on portuguese cuisine (Ela comprou um livro sobre culinária/cozinha portuguesa)
all the best

Exemplos:
a)I learn english ON the internet.(Aprendo inglês na internet.)
b)I listen to music ON the internet.(Ouço música na internet.)
c)It was related TO the internet.(Estava relacionado com a internet.)

Bye! See ya!
He would go on the internet (he goes on the internet) every day. = Ele entrava / entra...
You can go to the internet as a guide, but better go to published sources to be sure.
I went back to the internet to find other sources. = Eu voltei à internet...
Etc.

Usando o mesmo exemplo que foi dado no início - to go on the internet é o mesmo que usar a internet.
"I go on the computer" -- eu vou usar o computador.
"you've been for too long on the internet, not it's my turn" - voce ja esta a muito tempo na internet, agora é minha vez.
Assim como se voce quiser jogar video-game -- "I'm going on the wee". Nesse caso é jogar.
Alguém sabe mais exemplos assim:?

I aparticularly like the box analogy above.
I go online, I search online, I collaborate online isi what I say.
I'm on the internet 8 or more hours a day (most days).
I work on the internet.
But: I surf the web, not ON the web.
