In Great Britain, the older game was called the "Football Pools" (major company was Littlewooods from Liverpool) which started losing its market in 1994 when the UK National Lottery started because the prize money was higher. Specifically for football all the Betting Companies run "Football Bets" and, today, the UK National Lottery is allowed to run a football scratchcard game.

Today, this game is referred to as the "Football Pools"
or just simply "Football Betting".

Zumstein, are you sure about the translation? In the States, a pool is NOT a lottery in the usual sense. The Internet gives many examples, and here is one:

Pelas dicas que encontrei, não tem nada a ver com os "pools" que temos nos Estados. Na verdade, não há dicas para jogar nos Estados. Quem joga não temc controle sobre nada. Nada. Nem se pode escolher o nome do time que espera ganhar. Nada.

e no Google tradutor (football pools) e outros mais.

Tem pool e pools como loteria.
